NOVELIC is the world’s premier provider of mmWave radar systems, perception solutions, end-to-end embedded systems, power electronics, and semiconductor solutions for the automotive and industrial sectors.
Founded in 2013, NOVELIC has built up a strong portfolio of IPs and patents relating to mmWave radar and vision-based perception, and has since shipped tailored solutions for leading automotive and industrial companies in all regions.
Since 2023, NOVELIC has been part of Sona Comstar Group, an Indian Tier 1 automotive company, paving the way towards NOVELIC establishing itself as a supplier of ADAS solutions for the Indian market.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are building intelligent machines that operate autonomously in industrial and off-highway environments, sharing the same software architecture across multiple programs.
We are looking for a Software Architect to steer the development of that foundation. This is a hands-on architecture role with significant technical influence. You will define how perception, localization, planning, navigation, simulation, safety and data infrastructure come together as a coherent platform. It’s a real thing, deployed on real autonomous machines, with real customers.
Your job is to make sure that what we build for one program strengthens the platform for every program. You will balance the pressure of short-term delivery against the discipline of long-term architecture, and you will be the person who decides when those two are in conflict.
This is a senior, high-leverage role. You will work directly with the Business Line Heads, subsystem leads, and client-facing program teams, and your decisions will shape the shared DNA of all our autonomy products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set and evolve the technical direction of the autonomy platform.
- Define the end-to-end software architecture across hardware and sensor abstraction, perception and sensor fusion, localization and scene representation, path planning and navigation, simulation, verification & validation and data / MLOps infrastructure.
- Establish clear boundaries between reusable platform capabilities and product-specific functionality.
- Define and maintain interfaces and contracts between platform layers and components.
- Work directly with development teams as an architectural owner, technical reviewer and hands-on contributor when needed.
- Ensure that architectural decisions made within individual projects strengthen the shared platform.
- Lead cross-team technical decisions and resolve trade-offs between immediate delivery needs, system constraints and long-term platform integrity.
- Maintain essential architecture assets, including the living software architecture, interface specifications, Architecture Decision Records and the platform technical backlog.
YOUR PROFILE:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 in an architect or technical-lead role on a complex robotics or automotive system
- Hands-on depth in robotics middleware (ROS 2 or comparable)
- Experience designing multi-sensor perception or state-estimation pipelines
- A track record of shipping: you have taken a system from prototype to production and lived with the consequences of your architecture
- The ability to hold a position under pressure — to explain a decision, anticipate the counterargument, and change your mind when the argument is better
- Fluent written and spoken English
We do not expect one person to be an expert in every part of the autonomy stack. We are looking for broad system understanding, depth in several relevant areas and a demonstrated ability to make sound architectural decisions across disciplines.
Nice to have
- Functional safety exposure (ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or ISO 3691-4)
- Radar signal processing or radar-based perception background
- Experience with ML data pipelines and continuous re-training loops
WE OFFER:
- Unique project that gives you an opportunity to build your career in physical AI: robotics and autonomy domain.
- Direct influence over product direction — the architecture you define is the product’s backbone
- Support from great people with exceptional engineering and business talents
- Competitive salary, private health insurance, and flexible working arrangements
- Hybrid work supported with occasional traveling to Belgrade
